The Family Tree of Gaia Explained

(a sci-fi-poly-celestial approach)

by Jillbe Badb

A long long time ago…

The Universe and her consort, the Void decided to have another child as they only had males `til then...and they were hoping to finally have a female… Universe got pregnant, getting bigger than any pregnancy before. She gave birth to a beautiful female that she named Milky Way for the lovely stripe of dense stars across her body.

Milky Way expanded and spiraled outwards as she grew, and soon (after a few million zillion years) had lovers. They were Andromeda, Seashell, Pieces Cloud and the Wild Triplets. She partied with them a lot, and eventually got pregnant…by one of them.

Milky Way traveled to a nice quiet part of the cosmos to give birth. Her tummy grew very large, and she spent her time naming all of her sparkly star freckles and eating black holes. Finally, after a few million years, she gave birth to a tiny yellow-gold female she named Sun.

Sun was tiny and sweet and cute at first…but soon grew larger and larger, her tummy getting enormous and causing her mother concern. Sun and her mother, Milky Way talked at length about it, but didn't know what was wrong. They asked Grandmother Universe, who matter-of-
factly said, "Well it seems as if your little one was born pregnant. Remember, that happened to your fifth cousin, Vega?" Finally, Sun's enormous expansion ended in a big bang, and she was graced with nine children, one female named Gaia.

Gaia too was born pregnant like her mother - and after a few millennia - gave birth to the Lands (Pangea), the Waters (Pontus), and the Atmosphere (Urnus). All three of Gaia's children were
unisexual - both male and female.

Pangea, Pontus, and Urnus over time became parents to millions of beautiful colorful children called the Flora: some male, some female, many were both sexes. Flora, over time, with a long drawn-out pregnancy called evolution gave birth to millions of children called Fauna - all which were either male or female.

The next trillion years, Gaia, her children and her children's children lived a blissful existence full of deep moments of joy and excitement such as hurricanes and earthquakes. Then one day Gaia got her whole family together and asked them to make a pair of mating animals to resemble her great-grandparents -- the Universe and the Void -- in their minds, but to reflect Gaia in their spirit. After many eons of contemplation, Gaia's family created woman and man.

And THAT is how we came to be…

Lesson to this Story:

From the gigantic cosmos, to the tiniest ameba…we are all family. The web of life is a delicate one…we need to walk lightly upon it, or it will be come imbalanced as it is becoming now (melting of the icecaps, deforestation, extinct animals, etc.)

Nature's part in oneness…nature *IS* oneness. Every animal and plant within the web of nature – with the exception of humans alone – lives within the boundaries of balanced ecosystems.
